Golf Outing Report, May 19, 2012

If we could have ordered the perfect day, it would have been May 19, 2012—the day of our 4th Annual Golf Outing. The weather was great, the course at Winding Creek was awesome—add great food and fellowship, and the day was a huge success! After all expenses were paid, His Harvest Stand cleared approximately $5,500.00 for our ministry. We are thrilled that this fundraiser turned out so well this year, and we’re looking forward to improving and growing this event next year!  We couldn’t have had such great results without the assistance of great hole sponsors and raffle prize donors. The hole sponsors are listed below:

· Advantage Marine Repair
· Ageless Auto
· By-Pas International
· Carpet Bonanza Flooring Center
· Chemical Bank
· Landmark Services
· Macatawa Auto & Finance Co.
· Peter and Jayne Venlet
· Westside Service
· Lou & Linda Zadow
· Zeeland Lumber
· Zeeland Print Shop

A huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone who made this day a great success!                   Paul Scholten

Memorial Gifts

The family of Donald Van Lente has designated all Memorial gifts to the Home Repair Ministry of His Harvest Stand! Thanks to the family and friends who donated gifts in Don’s memory. We’ll be building more ramps with these wonderful gifts.

Post Office Food Drive - Mary 12, 2012

Wow! We know the economy hasn’t fully recovered, so we were skeptical as to how much the people of Zeeland would support the annual Post Office Food Drive for His Harvest Stand—but the result was the largest we have ever seen!  The picture to the left represents only a portion of the food items that were collected, and the total for the day was 12,298 pounds of food for our pantry!!

THANKS Zeeland, and THANKS Post Office drivers for bringing in all that food!  It was an unexpected but wonderful surprise to see those trucks just keep coming and coming!

Home Repair Report--Mark Wolfe reporting

The Home Repair Ministry of His Harvest Stand has been extremely busy—since spring and summer are our best seasons for building ramps or working outside. The Home Repair Ministry offers free labor for low income, elderly, or disabled persons for repairs such as floor repairs, new and repaired roofs, interior and exterior maintenance, weatherization—and also barrier free modifications such as grab bars, ramps, tub conversions etc. We couldn’t possibly do this without the assistance of volunteers and church groups. This spring/summer we are so pleased to have the help of three very helpful churches in our community:

¨ Bethel CRC/Zeeland gave us 3 days of help with 21 people assisting!
¨ Faith CRC/Holland is offering at least 10 groups of 6-10 youth + adults towards the end of July
¨ Oakland CRC is putting together several work days this summer with 4-6 people assisting.

These groups are helping with: painting, floor repair, ramps, roofs, cleaning, sorting, yard work, general maintenance, minor electrical or plumbing, and anything else that our clients need. THANKS to these helpful groups—we couldn’t do all of these projects without you!

We are looking for a volunteer who is an expert at Facebook, Craig’s List, EBay, LinkedIn, and all the social   media options that are out there!  If this is you—call Paul at:
